Champz Bio
Champz is a 27 year old lyricist/songwriter from Long Island NY. He has been writing music for over 13 years. He has been infatuated with hip hop ever since he was 8 years old and heard B.I.G.'s "Ready To Die" for the first time. "Everything about Biggie was amazing to me. His low unique voice, his slow flow, and his ability to tell a story is something that just stuck with me when I was a kid, until now. I can't tell you that I knew I was gunna be a rapper at that point, but I definitely fell in love with the genre." The other artists that Champz enjoyed listening to as he grew older was Eminem, Nas, Big Pun, DMX, Mase, and The LOX. When he was 13 years old, his father died suddenly and him and his Mother and Brother's, Frankie and George, moved down south where his Mother had family. When Champz first enrolled into school in the south, he noticed that other kids would be battle rapping in the parking lot b4 school would start, and at recess. Desperate to fit in, he would go home after school everyday and start writing songs. "I was pretty much one out of a couple white kids in the whole grade, so I knew that if I battled and used a funny white kid line, everyone would go crazy for me" Champz went to school 1 day and told ppl in his grade that he wrote raps also. "They all pretty much laughed at me because I was this skinny, shy, white kid that nobody really paid attention to in my first couple of weeks at the school. That was also a time where white rappers didn't exist in the industry like they do today, aside from Eminem of course". Somebody stepped up to battle Champz and that kid went first. It was now Champz's turn to rap. "At first you probably thought I couldn't rap cuz I'm white, but how this cracker is killing you that must be hard to bite. The ENTIRE school went ballistic when they heard that line, it wasn't the best line I ever wrote but when I got that reaction I knew this is what I wanted to do". Champz moved back to Long Island NY where he has lived ever since. He records songs at SMX Studios with engineer/producer/close friend Scott Mix. He is a solo artist but is also part of a rap trio known as Hy-Deph, with fellow artists, Mr. J1S and The Nemesis.
